Innocent one |
You see, his mom left him with her ex-boyfriend a couple of months ago, and Elliot adopted me. He showed up at my back door howling pitifully. Soon he was sleeping on my sofa with his head resting on my lap. He came every morning at 6 or 7 am. He was always on my back step, waiting for me. He stayed all day every day until my husband put him outside for the night.
Sending me a kitty kiss |
We both fell for him. He had food, water, and shelter at the other house, but at our house he had attention and love. When his mom was ready to be responsible for him again, she sent for him. That was it. Now he's gone. Will he be happy there? Will I ever get over him?

Until next time.... xoxo Jennifer
Oh Jennifer, I suffer with you. I also have two cats and can understand your pain. They are so strong willed and yet so cuddly. One can get so used to it. You can only hope that he likes his new home. Sometimes it takes a while to get used to it. Remember, his other mommy loves him too, otherwise they would not have taken him.

That is so sad!
ReplyDeleteIt might be time for you to adopt a cat! Our elderly cats had all passed on and we didn't want another. But, we adopted Zephyr whom I have been blogging about. Sad for you, but hope you find another kitty to fill the hole in your heart!
ReplyDeleteIt's a sad story but can have a good end if you adopt a kitten. I would, maybe more than one, if it was possible but my husband is allergic to cats. I feed the stray ones and they come to me when they just see me with a bag in my hand.

Cuanto lo siento, son unos animales a los que enseguida se les coge cariño.
ReplyDeleteSupongo que seria una buena idea adoptar un gatito.
besitos ascension
awww....so sweet, yet sad....
ReplyDeleteHi Craftland! Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate them so much! I hope his mom will provide a stable, loving home for him.
ReplyDeleteHi Audra! I feel really sad, but as my husband reminded me this morning, it was a gift to be able to have him in our lives, and we gave him some stability when he needed it--both gifts. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment! :-)
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for you, Jennifer. It is a sad story but we have to believe his mom would give him a lot of love this time:)

Hi DollZandThingZ! Yes, we had three elderly cats who passed away within months of each other. That was several years ago. Elliot helped us open our hearts to loving again. I will check out your posts about Zephyr--thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Drora! I am enjoying that sweet image of you feeding the strays. They are so lucky to have you! And you get to have some time with some kitties--really nice! Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHola Ascension! Yes, there are so many cats that need love now. Adopting a cat may be a good idea. Thank you for sharing your support.
ReplyDeleteHi Crafter's Delights! Good to hear from you. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment.
ReplyDeleteHi The Old Maid! Yes, we have to believe it! In fact, I am praying for it!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for you. I hope he likes the new home.
ReplyDeleteBye Faby
Thanks Fabiola! I appreciate your support. Yes, that is the most important thing--that Elliot is happy. :-)
ReplyDeleteQue penita verdad?...bueno te queda saber que estará feliz y la verdad es una buena opción adoptar a un nuevo gatito.
ReplyDeleteMil besitos...Julia.
Hola julia! Yes, adopting a new kitty might help me forget my sadness. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment!
ReplyDeleteSiento que estés sufriendo, perder a un amigo es siempre difícil, seguro que él estará bien, no sufras.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo
Hola Rosamargarita! You are so right--losing a friend is always difficult, and I have lost a good little friend. :-( It gets a little bit easier each day, but I am still very sad. Thank you for your kind words. They are exactly what I needed to hear. :-)
ReplyDeleteO, Jennifer it brings tears in my eyes, I can feel what you are going through, because I almost had the same situation last year.
ReplyDeleteBut Cats have outstanding personality, I think he will survive.
You are the one that suffers,I think he will always remember you:)and when time goes by, you might think about him with out sadness, and remember the good times you had with him.
Warm hugs Mieke xxx
That's really sad - it's always hard if you have to say goodbye to someone you love.

Hi Mieke--I'm so sorry you went through a similar situation. It is so painful, but I know that everything you say is true. He is probably fine now, but it will take time for me to get over it. Thank you so much for your thoughtful words. I appreciate them so much! :-)
ReplyDeleteSo true, Birgit. And with an animal, I can't call him or email him and say, "Are you being cared for properly? Is your life stable and secure now? Are you happy?" None of that, so it feels like a bigger loss than just a good friend moving away. Thank you for your kind words.
ReplyDeleteEntendemos como te sientes, solo queda confiar en que este bien . un besin
ReplyDeleteThose furry kids really do work their magic in our hearts, don't they? Sending you hugs.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly the hole they leave in your lives when, for whatever reason, they are no longer around. :( As suggested by so many already there is a space in your heart for another feline to curl up and purr and tease and keep you warm and laughing. :)
ReplyDeleteI think of you!
ReplyDeleteMona
These precious creatures worm their way into our hearts. What a sweet boy and how hard it must have been for you to say goodbye. I'm thinking of you.

Gracias, lesnuestrescoses! That's a great way of saying it! "We understand how you feel, there is only hope that this is good." Yes, that is what I must remember. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, otterine! It really means a lot to me that you would leave such a sweet, supportive message on my blog. He WAS my furry kid! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Christine! Thank you for your sweet comment. It is so good to hear from you. I know that you know--thank you! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mona. I appreciate your thoughts so much. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Claudia. That means so much. Thank you for your thoughts--they are helping! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh Jennifer, this is so sad! :(
ReplyDeleteHi MALINIK! Yes, it is so sad. Just when I think I'm feeling better, I feel really sad again. Thank you for your words.
ReplyDeleteDear Jenn, it is very difficult when we separated from our pets, especially cats that are so tender ... Elliot will always be in your thinking. This is forever. I believe that the true mother loves him and he'll be very happy. ;)
ReplyDelete* Adopt a kitten only for you!
Hugs
Hi Eliana! It is always so good to hear from you! Yes, Elliot will always be in my heart! :-) She loves him and will try to do her best for him. He must have been very excited to see her after such a long separation! We'll see about a cat for me! ;-) Thank you for your sweet comment. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh Jennifer!!! Wow - I had no idea about your new kitty! First of all, what a fuzzy buzzy lovey bug!! Elliot's face is divine! You can just see the love! Man, my heart aches for you - I can only imagine...I know how hard it was for you before - the connections are deep. Hopefully Elliot will be happy and be loved fully, as deserved - and hopefully you will get updates. And maybe he is the catalyst to bring in a new full time resident. :-)
ReplyDeleteBig hugs!
Hi Joy! Great to hear from you! Thanks for all the insights and support! Thanks for stopping by too--hope to see you again soon. Big hugs back! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou must be the most generous person alive. I would not have been as nice as you. I hope she will take care of that poor cat. Maybe there's another kitty out there in your future? Plenty of those out there all alone and homeless.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you stopped by and let me know that you like our dolls. I'm sure your shabby chic house is going to be a superb specimen!!
hugs,
Caroline
Hi Caroline! It wasn't up to me. Her boyfriend was ultimately responsible for the cat and agreed to send Elliot back to her. I tried to convince him that the cat was happier and safer here (he even agreed), but in the end, he sent Elliot off. It was really heartbreaking, but I am trying to move on. :-(
ReplyDeleteItalian poet Dante said:"What remains from paradise are stars, flowers, and children" j think the cats too.
ReplyDeleteHi tuseiregina! Thank you for that! What a sweet thing to say! Cats are so precious--I must say that I totally agree with you! :-) Jennifer
